Fife Council Out of School Clubs

Child Protection, Safeguarding & Wellbeing

In Scotland, keeping children safe and well is a shared responsibility. Within our Out of School Clubs, we take this responsibility very seriously and work in line with the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland.

Our team is trained in all aspects of child protection, safeguarding, and wellbeing. Staff take part in ongoing professional learning to ensure they remain up to date with current guidance and best practice. This includes recognising when a child may be at risk and understanding how to respond appropriately to support the child and their family.

We are proud to be a trauma-informed service. This means our staff are committed to creating safe, nurturing, and supportive environments where children can thrive physically, emotionally, and socially. All staff complete Level 2 trauma-informed training.

All staff working with children in our service remain attentive to any signs that a child or young person may be experiencing harm. We are committed to promoting the welfare of every child and to taking appropriate action where there are concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing.

If we have concerns about a child’s wellbeing, we may speak with their parent or carer and, where appropriate, consult the Child Protection Coordinator at their school. If we believe a child may be at immediate risk of harm, we will contact Fife Council’s Social Work Contact Centre to help ensure that the appropriate support and protection are put in place.
