Child Protection, Safeguarding & Wellbeing

In Scotland, keeping children safe and well is everyone’s responsibility. Within our Out of School Clubs, we take this responsibility seriously.  We follow the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland.

Our teams are fully trained in all aspects of child protection, safeguarding and wellbeing. Staff undergo training and ongoing professional development to ensure they are equipped with the latest knowledge and best practices. This includes recognising signs that a child may be at risk and knowing how to respond appropriately to support the child and their family.

We are proud to be a trauma-informed service. This means our staff are skilled in creating safe, nurturing, and supportive environments where children can thrive—physically, emotionally, and socially.  All staff undergo level 2 trauma informed training.

All staff working with children in our service are alert to any indicators that a child or young person may be experiencing harm. We believe that no child should ever suffer abuse of any kind, and we are committed to promoting their welfare and keeping them safe.

If we have concerns about a child’s wellbeing, we may speak with their parent or consult the Child Protection Coordinator at their school. If we believe a child is at immediate risk of harm, we will contact Fife Council’s Social Work Contact Centre to ensure the right support is in place.

The Fife Child Protection web pages offer more detail on child safety issues.
