Commercial Out of School Club
The service is provided within Commercial Primary School is mainly based within the gym/dining hall of Commercial Primary school. The service operates from 07:45 to 09:00 then again 14:45 to 18:00 Monday to Friday during school term time. The service collects children from Commercial Primary School and St.Margarets Primary School. During school holidays and in-service days, the service merges with Carnegie Out of School Club in Dunfermline, taking turns to be the main venue. By doing this we feel that the children get lots of opportunities for different play experiences as both settings and surrounding areas are very different.
We employ a small staff team consisting of a peripatetic manager, a Senior Childcare Practitioner and 3 Childcare Practitioner who daily care for the children in attendance and support the children to access a wide range of play-bases activities and experiences, including outdoor play, loose parts play and creative play. If the children want to, just chill with a book we have that covered too.
Our aim is to provide quality school aged childcare to support families to gain employment, access training for work, or attend further education. Children and young people will be supported to participate in a wide range of fun, play based activities that reflect their individual
needs, likes and interests. We aim to provide a fun, safe and nurturing environment for all who attend.
At Commercial Out of School Club we like to make good use of the local outdoor area with lots of outdoor play and trips to the local park. Inside we have a variety of resources for the children to play with. The children tend to use one side of the hall for physical play and the other side of the hall for arts and crafts, games and smaller toys.
In both sessions we offer a breakfast or a snack which is in line with the Healthy Eating in School guidelines. The children are involved in the planning and prepping of snack and even the washing up! At breakfast time the children are encouraged to make their own cereal or toast. Some of our favourite afternoon snacks are pizza wraps and pancakes. We have fresh fruit and veg available daily and milk or water to drink. We cater for all allergy and dietary requirements.
